Positioning, basic rules:

This another important step in the definition of your marketing plan, having carried out before a Market Analysis and a Segmentation.

1) Identify the positioning requirements:
What is my product/service and the benefits for the customer?
Does it compete with other products/services?
Why should the customers buy my product/service? Buying experience? Customers’ perception?
Why should it be preferred in comparison to my competitors?
With which market performance I want to offer my product/service?
How could customers react to my marketing solicitations?
How I want to communicate / is the message in line with the product spirit?

2) Analysis of the positioning
Definition of the attributes and their importance (mine and of the competitors’ product and services) in a table.
Analysis of the positioning through definition of the right niche where the product/service should be placed in comparison to competitors

3) Positioning proposal
FOR-WHO-WHAT-IS-and DOES-VS(others)-OUR PRODUCT

4) choice of the positioning (strategy to use)
Attributes, Benefits, Usage opportunities, Users, Activities bound, Origin, Competition, Price, Needs, etc.
